The Russian Koresh Championship will be held in the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan

9 March 2023, Thursday

From March 10 to 12, the championship of Russia in koresh belt wrestling in three age categories will be held in Kazan at the Volga Region University of Sports. About 300 athletes and 100 representatives, judges and specialists from all over Russia will take part in the competition. Athletes from more than 30 regions of the country who have been selected at regional championships will compete in 9 "weights" of three age categories.

"The most difficult selection of athletes has traditionally taken place in Tatarstan and Bashkortostan, as these are the leading regions," comments the president of the Koresh Federation of Russia, Jaudat Minnakhmetov, "however, in recent years we have seen that athletes from the Ural, Central and Siberian Federal districts are very closely selected. Following the leaders, other regions are also being pulled up."

The Russian Championship is traditionally held in the multifunctional hall of the Volga Region University of Sports. In 2021, the rector of PGUFKSiT Rafis Burganov and the President of the Koresh Federation of Russia Jaudat Minnakhmetov signed a cooperation agreement, under which work is underway to create a koresh department, and later a department of martial arts (koresh specialization).

The final matches and celebrations of the Russian Koresh Championship are scheduled for March 11, 18:00.
