Rustam Minnikhanov: The Mumtalakat Investment Fund builds up a bridge of cooperation between Russia and Bahrein

On April 8, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov had a substantive and productive meeting with Chairman of the Bahrain Economic Development Board Khalid Al Rumaihi and Chief Executive Officer of The Mumtalakat Investment Fund Mahmood Hashim Al Kooheji.

Minnikhanov was introduced the activities of the Bahrain Economic Development Board and the Mumtalakat Investment Fund. During the conversation, the Arab side was interested in the issue of formation of taxation system in Russia, in particular, the value-added tax. Also, the obvious interest of Bahrainis caused the possibility of cooperation and exchange of experience and technologies in heavy sulfurous oil extraction and its further processing.

During the meeting, Minnikhanov noted that the Russian Federation attaches great importance to cooperation with the Kingdom of Bahrain. “Our country considers the Kingdom as an important trade, economic and investment partner in the Middle East region. However, the Russian-Bahraini sales volume is not high. Due to the position of the Mumtalakat Fund, the bridge of cooperation between our countries is already being built and Tatarstan is ready to actively participate in this deal”.

At the end of the meeting, Tatarstan President invited senior executives of the Fund to visit the republic at any convenient time, for example, under the 10th International Economic Summit “Russia-Islamic World: KazanSummit” and explore further the investment opportunities of the region.
