Tatarstan President takes part in launching a new KAMAZ assembly line in Uzbekistan

On November 26, in Samarkand, the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tatarstan President Rustam Minnikhanov took part in launching a new KAMAZ assembly line at UzAuto Trailer.

Governor of Samarkand region Erkinjon Turdimov, Director General of KAMAZ Automaker Sergey Kogogin and others also became the honoured guests at the event.

Before the ceremony, the guests got acquainted with the capabilities of the auto enterprise, visited the KAMAZ assembly workshop, the mounted and trailed equipment workshop, and also looked around the lines of assembly part sets and the gas cylinder equipment assembly section. They were also demonstrated a model range of trucks and municipal special equipment, which is planned to be produced at the auto enterprise.

“Today we are present at the opening ceremony of the new KAMAZ assembly line in Samarkand. First of all, I want to thank the leadership of the Russian Federation and the Republic of Uzbekistan for supporting the development of Tatarstan-Uzbekistan cooperation, as well as everyone who took part in the implementation of this project. Uzbekistan is one of the important foreign partners of Tatarstan and all Russia. Last year, our trade turnover grew by 57 per cent to make 146 million US dollars,” Tatarstan President said.

According to Minnikhanov, the cooperation of Uzbekistan with KAMAZ is one of the successful examples of joint work. The facility for the production of trucks was launched at UzAvto Trailer in Samarkand last year.

“The assembled vehicles are sold on the domestic market of Uzbekistan, the possibility of entering third markets is being considered,” Minnikhanov said. He also emphasized the historical significance of today's event and wished the auto enterprise team successful work.
